On the good side, the trip led to a good number of ideas. And a few new purchases.
Some good things are coming this year.
Trends to watch: lots of dimension, texture and elegant patterns. Look to Michael Strong for a good feel of the style direction. He was there giving card demos and we just had to have a few of his stamps!
Cloisonné Heart & Cloisonné Paisleys
On the way out,we stumbled upon the end of a "Paint with Wyland" event.

As the crowd had dissipated, and all the scrapbookers were off looking for more deals, we had an opportunity to talk with Wyland for a few moments. He was gracious and friendly. Shortly after we left the event.
As we walked through the convention center, suddenly he was behind us. And we walked and talked about art and doing good with your art when you can and the like, all the way to the far parking lot. Apparently, he didn't get great parking either.
How often do you get to meet your favorite living artist (sorry Escher will always hold first place to me) and find out he's really a great, approachable guy.
