!!! TIP !!!

Tearing is a wonderful technique.

It has a great look, it makes great layers. And it's wonderful when you don't want to obsess about getting those cut lines perfectly straight. Tearing isn't supposed to look perfect so it's less stress.

But often those tears don't quite come out looking the way you'd like them to.

Here's the trick: Water!

It's this simple. Take a small amount of water and wet the tip of your finger. Use your wet finger to draw where you want the paper/ vellum to tear. Be sure you go all the way from end to end. You may need to wet your finger a few times, but get the paper/ vellum fairly damp.

Before it dries, begin to tear the paper from one of the edges along the wet line. The paper/ vellum will naturally follow the wet line, as it has created a weak point.

And that's it! Wonderfully torn papers/ vellum, every time!
